The Environmental & Water Resources Institute

The Austin Chapter of EWRI invites professionals of all specialties who work on issues pertaining to environmental or water resources to join our community. The objective of the Chapter is the advancement of the science and profession of engineering in a manner consistent with the purpose of the American Society of Civil Engineers by bringing local workshops and training to the area members.

Join us on Tuesday, May 14th, during the lunch hour at Freese and Nichols (FNI) office for an open lunch meeting! The meeting is free and lunch is provided. Virtual meeting information is also available at the bottom of this page.

THE 2023 CONTINUING EDUCATION WORKSHOP was a success!

The 18th Annual Continuing Education Workshop was held in-person Friday, June 16th, at the J.J. Pickle Research Center.

Our theme this year was The Future of Water Security in the Heart of Texas. Topics included water conservation and re-use, aquifer storage and recovery, as well as other stormwater topics including stream restoration and water quality infrastructure. We had speakers presenting from City of Austin Watershed Protection, Austin Water, TWDB, City of Buda, and more!


EWRI Scholarship Program Spring 2024

The EWRI Austin Chapter is proud to announce five scholarships for a total of $8,000 for current high school seniors and undergraduate students who plan to study in a water resources, environmental, or related field beginning in Fall 2024. Winners will be announced in-person at our workshop on Friday November 1st and posted to our website for recognition.
