Rain Garden Volunteer Build (Day 1 Afternoon Shift)

  • Metz Elementary School 84 Robert T Martinez Jr St Austin, TX 78702 United States of America (map)

Join the EWRI Austin Branch for a hands-on community service project!

Volunteers will help fix drainage issues at Metz Elementary School by building a rain garden and swales, installing erosion protection, and planting native species. This project is a great opportunity to improve water quality, reduce flooding, and support native ecosystems.

What to expect: On Nov 7, we will dig and install the rain garden and swales. There is a morning shift (9 am-12 pm) and afternoon shift (1-4 pm). On Nov 14, we will add native grasses and plants, and finish remaining work on the project.

Who can attend: ASCE EWRI members, friends, family, and community members are welcome to join.

On Build Day 1, all volunteers should be adults since we'll be using large materials and digging tools. Kids are welcome to join on Build Day 2.
