TOPIC: Engineers Without Borders

SPEAKER: Lizzie Francis, P.E. and Brad McConnon, P.E.

SPONSOR: TBD

ASCE Austin is excited to host Lizzie Francis, P.E. and Bradley McConnon, P.E. with Engineers Without Borders. They will be presenting on the work of Engineers Without Borders

Lizzie has been a dedicated Engineers Without Borders volunteer for more than 15 years, beginning her journey in the SMU chapter as a freshman. She has led and supported international engineering projects in Rwanda, Bolivia, and Tanzania. Her master’s research focused on water and soil quality in an EWB partner community. Since 2019, Lizzie has held multiple leadership roles with the Greater Austin Chapter, including chapter president. She now serves as the South Central Regional President, supporting chapters across several states and strengthening collaboration throughout the region. Professionally, Lizzie works as an engineer for Austin Water. She enjoys staying active, being outdoors, spending time with her husband, and both playing and listening to music.

Bradley McConnon is the former president for the Greater Austin Chapter. Bradley's journey with EWB began in 2017 when he joined the Greater Austin chapter. During his time as president, he solidified the chapter's operations in a post-covid world and coached a growing team of students as they came together and formed a new international project for the chapter. Beyond his term as president, he is the most knowledgeable member of the chapter regarding domestic projects and has fostered local Austin connections for the chapter. Bradley volunteers with Engineers without Borders because he believes EWB is the best way he and other engineers can give back to communities. Professionally, Bradley is a senior transportation and drainage engineer and has designed projects across Texas for state, county, and municipal clients. In his free time, Bradley likes to go latin dancing and likes to host D&D campaigns.
