Jim is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture with over 37 years of professional experience. From 1980 to 2004 Jim was engaged in private practice in Austin as either a Project Architect, Construction Administrator, Project Manager or Principal, personally responsible for over $2 billion in construction; including commercial, industrial, semi-conductor manufacturing, and public institutional work; and those projects encompassed Construction Manager at Risk, Design Build, and fast-track multiple prime delivery methods in addition to traditional design-bid-build.


Jim has been with the University of Texas System – Office of Facilities and Planning (OFPC) for over 13 years, beginning in 2004. Jim currently serves as the Director of the Capital Planning and Construction office at the University of Texas at Austin, overseeing a portfolio of 11 active projects with a value of over $1.3B.

Notable UT Austin projects Jim has managed include the Dell Medical School Phase 1, Norman Hackerman Building, Nano Science & Technology Building, Biomedical Engineering Building, Microelectronics and Engineering Research Building, Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium Expansion, and the Engineering Education and Research Center. Current projects include the Welch Hall Renovation, Robert B. Rowling Hall, Texas Tennis Center, East Campus Parking Garage, and the Speedway Mall and East Mall.
Jim has been married to Debbie for over 36 years, and they have three adult children and two grandchildren.
